I'm an inline hockey player and have been playing at the Sports Plex for years. I'm astonished at how badly yesterday's indoor turf maintenance was mismanaged.
I walked in yesterday evening expecting to play hockey and was immediately concerned about the smell of exhaust in the building. How on earth could you allow your turf maintenance contractors to run diesel powered generators indoors? No one on your management team was concerned about the safety of your customers, staff and turf maintenance workers? This is not rocket science but is common sense. Equipment which produces exhaust should never be run indoors no matter how large or well ventilated an area.
I'm incredibly glad the Fire Department arrived due to carbon monoxide levels being well above healthy tolerances and kicked everyone out of the building.
Your management team needs to have a thorough review of what went wrong with this incident and come up with a plan to prevent something like this from ever happening again. Too many people's health (including children and elderly) was put in risk last night due to a blatant management error.
Additionally, I expect the Sports Plex to fully address this incident with all your customers via e-mail and on your website to give the proper assurances that this will never happen again.
Thanks,
Jason

nicely written Jason.
I just received the following e-mail:
Jason,
I could not agree more. Gasoline powered machinery should never be used indoors. We have addressed the issue with the contracting company and the staff. I promise you that this will never happen again.
Thanks,
Andrew Jenkins
